Welcome new families to Sunset Hills!  Sunset Hills is a diverse, community-oriented school with myriad opportunities to participate in fun, engaging events and activities.  Additionally, there are manifold meaningful ways to support the school community by volunteering.  But first, to get you started, read on for some things we recommend all new families look into!​​

First, we encourage you to sign up to be a PTA member. All are invited to join, parents/guardians - even your youngest Seagulls and soon-to-be Seagulls! Grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends - anyone who wants to take an active part in our school community can be a PTA Member. Click here to learn more!

When the school year begins, the school-hosted Principal's Coffee Chats and Back-to-School Night are two excellent ways to learn more about our school, get to know about some of our important dates/activities, and meet Sunset Hills staff, teachers, and other families.​

Perhaps the most important thing you can do to remain informed as a new family is to make sure you are signed up to receive The Seagull's Nest weekly email newsletter and REMIND messages.  These are the two main ways our school, PTA and Foundation communicates with families.   If you need to sign up, email Sunset Hills' Administrative Assistant Bridgette Padilla at bpadilla@powayusd.com.

Finally, please be aware of the importance of your membership.  We understand that not everyone has the ability or desire to devote time to volunteering, but each and every membership dollar goes to supporting all of our worthwhile programs.  Additionally, our Fundraising Efforts in collaboration with the Sunset Hills Education Foundation each year allow us to maintain our Specials programs (such as STEM, Art and Music), add counselor hours, make on-campus improvements, and to fund our collective social/cultural, academic, and extracurricular events and activities.
